يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا۟ كَلِمَةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِسْلَٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَنْ أَغْنَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۚ فَإِن يَتُوبُوا۟ يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ
English - Hazrat Molavi Sher Ali ra
They swear by Allah that they said nothing, but they did certainly use blasphemous language, and disbelieved after they had embraced Islam. And they meditated that which they could not attain. And they cherished hatred only because Allah and His Messenger had enriched them out of His bounty. So if they repent, it will be better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a grievous punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they shall have neither friend nor helper in the earth.

وہ اللہ کی قسمیں کھاتے ہیں (کہ) انہوں نے نہیں کہا حالانکہ وہ یقیناً کفر کا کلمہ کہہ چکے ہیں جبکہ وہ اسلام لانے کے بعد کافر ہوگئے۔ اور وہ ایسے پختہ ارادے رکھتے تھے جنہیں وہ پا نہ سکے۔ اور انہوں نے (مومنوں سے) پرخاش نہ رکھی مگر صرف اس وجہ سے کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے ان کو اپنے فضل سے مالامال کر دیا۔ پس اگر وہ توبہ کر لیں تو ان کے لئے بہتر ہوگا۔ ہاں اگر وہ پھر جائیں تو اللہ انہیں دنیا اور آخرت میں دردناک عذاب دے گا اور ان کے لئے ساری زمین میں نہ کوئی دوست ہوگا اور نہ مددگار۔
French
Ils jurent par Allāh de n’avoir rien dit, mais ils ont assurément proféré des blasphèmes, et après avoir embrassé l’Islam, ils sont devenus mécréants. Et ils ont médité sur ce qu’ils n’ont pu atteindrepar la suite. Et ils ont nourri de la haine à l’egard des croyants seulement parce qu’Allāh et Son Messager les avait enrichis de Sa munificence. Si donc ils se repentent, cela vaudra mieux pour eux. Mais s’ils se détournent, Allāh les châtiera d’un châtiment douloureux ici-bas et dans l’au-delà, et ils n’auront ni ami ni aide sur la terre.

Sie schwören bei Allah, dass sie nichts gesagt haben, doch sie führten unzweifelhaft lästerliche Rede und fielen in Unglauben zurück, nachdem sie den Islam angenommen hatten. Sie sannen auf das, was sie nicht erreichen konnten. Und sie nährten nur darum Hass, weil Allah und Sein Gesandter sie reich gemacht hatten aus Seiner Huld. Wenn sie bereuen, so würde es besser für sie sein; wenden sie sich jedoch ab, so wird Allah sie strafen mit schmerzlicher Strafe in dieser Welt und im Jenseits, und sie sollen auf Erden weder Freund noch Helfer finden.

他们凭安拉立誓, 他们没说什么 (坏话), 其实, 他们说了不信的话, 在接受了伊斯兰教后又不信了。而且 (为了反对伊斯兰教) 图谋其所得不到的 (可恶的) 勾当。他们对信仰者怀抱敌意, 只是因为安拉和他的使者以自己的恩典使他们富裕了[574]。他们如果改过自新, 那对他们将会是好的; 如果他们背离, 安拉将在今后两世给他们痛苦的惩罚, 在这个世界上他们将不会有任何朋友和帮助者。
穆圣到了麦地那, 那个城市大大地兴旺发达起来, 生意兴隆, 居民富裕起来了。

Essi giurano per Allah di non aver detto nulla, mentre hanno parlato da bestemmiatori e ritornarono miscredenti dopo aver abbracciato l'Islam. E hanno meditato sopra quanto hanno in seguito mancato di raggiungere. E non hanno altro motivo per l'odio se non perché Allah e il Suo messaggero li avevano arricchiti con la Sua grazia. Così, se si pentiranno, sarà meglio per loro. Ma se volteranno le spalle, Allah infliggerà loro una severa punizione in questo mondo e nell'Aldilà ed essi non avranno sulla terra né un amico né un soccorritore.

Juran por Al-lah que no dijeron nada. Pero en verdad usaron un lenguaje blasfemo, y no creyeron después de haber abrazado el Islam. Meditaron sobre lo que posteriormente fracasaron en conseguir. Y alimentaron su odio únicamente porque Al-lah y Su Mensajero los habían enriquecido por su magnanimidad. Por tanto, si se arrepienten, mejor sería para ellos; pero si se apartan, Al-lah les inflingirá un castigo doloroso en este mundo y en el Más Allá, y no tendrán ni amigo ni abogado en la tierra.
اردو تفسیرِ صغیر
وہ اللہ کی قسمیں کھاتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے کوئی (بری) بات نہیں کہی۔ حالانکہ انہوں نے کفر کی بات کہی ہے اور اسلام لانے کے بعد کفر کیا ہے۔ اور (اسلام کے خلاف) ایسی (مکروہ) باتوں کا ارادہ کیا ہے جن کو وہ حاصل نہیں کر سکتے اور انہوں نے مسلمانوں سے صرف اس لئے دشمنی کی کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے ان کو اپنے فضل سے مال دار بنا دیا تھا۔ پس اگر وہ توبہ کریں تو ان کے لئے اچھا ہوگا اور اگر وہ پیٹھ پھیر کر چلے جائیں تو اللہ ان کو دنیا میں بھی اور آخرت میں (بھی) دردناک عذاب دے گا اور اس جہان میں نہ کوئی ان کا دوست ہوگا اور نہ مددگار۔
English - Short Commentary Translation
They swear by Allah that they said nothing, but they did certainly utter the word of disbelief, and disbelieved after they had embraced Islam. And they designed what they could not attain. And they cherished enmity against believers only because Allah and His Messenger had enriched[1200] them out of His bounty. So if they repent, it will be better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a grievous punishment in this world and the Hereafter, and they shall have neither friend nor helper in the earth.
With the arrival of the Holy Prophet in Medina, prosperity of the town very much increased, its trade throve and its inhabitants grew rich.

Commentary:
The words, They swear by Allah that they said nothing, also show that the preceding verse refers not to disbelievers and hypocrites jointly, but only to hypocrites. As the verse points out, some of the disbelievers who later turned hypocrites were not insincere in the beginning; but as time went on and Islam made progress, they gradually drifted into disbelief and hypocrisy. For instance, ‘Abdullah bin Ubayy, who afterwards became leader of the hypocrites, was at first a believer. But when he found that by giving his allegiance to the Holy Prophet his own prestige and importance had declined, he turned hostile and began to plot against Islam.
The expression, because Allah and His Messenger had enriched them out of His bounty, means that with the advent of the Holy Prophet to Medina, the prosperity of the town very much increased, its trade thrived and its inhabitants grew rich.

یہ لوگ خدا کی قسم کھا کھا کر کہتے ہیں کہ ہم نے وہ بات نہیں کہی، حالانکہ انہوں نے ضرور وہ کافرانہ بات کہی ہے وہ اسلام لانے کے بعد کفر کے مرتکب ہوئے اور انہوں نے وہ کچھ کرنے کا ارادہ کیا جسے کر نہ سکے یہ ان کا سارا غصہ اسی بات پر ہے نا کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسول نے اپنے فضل سے ان کو غنی کر دیا ہے! اب اگر یہ اپنی اس روش سے باز آ جائیں تو انہی کے لیے بہتر ہے اور اگر یہ باز نہ آئے تو اللہ ان کو نہایت درد ناک سزا دے گا، دنیا میں بھی اور آخرت میں بھی، اور زمین میں کوئی نہیں جو اِن کا حمایتی اور مددگار ہو
English - Sahih
They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty. So if they repent, it is better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And there will not be for them on earth any protector or helper.

They swear by Allah (that) they said nothing, while certainly they said (the) word (of) the disbelief and disbelieved after their (pretense of) Islam, and planned [of] what not they could attain. English - Arberry
They swear by God that they said nothing, but they indeed said the word of unbelief and disbelieved, after they had surrendered. They purposed what they never attained to, and they took revenge only that God enriched them, and His Messenger, of His bounty. So if they repent it will be better for them; if they turn away, God will chastise them with a painful chastisement in this world and the next; on the earth they have no protector or helper.

They swear by Allah that they said nothing blasphemous whereas they indeed blasphemed, and fell into unbelief after believing, and also had evil designs which they could not carry into effect. They are spiteful against Muslims for no other reason than that Allah and His Messenger have enriched them through His bounty! So, if they repent, it will be to their own good. But if they turn away, Allah will sternly punish them in this world and in the Hereafter. None in the world will be able to protect or help them.
